In what is being considered as a master move, four-time champions CSK have shifted their camp from Surat to Chennai for a tactical reason. The pitches of Surat’s Lalbhai Contractor Stadium, where Chennai have set up their camp, have been made from the same soil as it is in Maharashtra, where all IPL 2022 games will be held.

Hence, Dhoni’s Chennai have shifted their base to Surat in an attempt to get acclimatized to Maharashtra-like pitches. Prior to reportedly taking on Kolkata Knight Riders for the first match of the season on 26th March, CSK has arranged a 20-day training camp. With Dhoni having joined the camp, the Yellow Army are all set to get their training sessions underway from Thursday.

Besides Dhoni, Ambati Rayudu has also joined the CSK camp. The franchise showed faith in the veteran batter on the auction table, as they shelled out a whopping INR 6.75 crore for him. Referring to his banter-bromance with Dwayne Bravo, CSK uploaded an image of Rayudu with an image of the Caribbean all-rounder in the background.

Details of CSK’s training camp in Surat:
- All the players will be in a strict bio-bubble and fans will be allowed to watch the practice matches sessions.
- Heavy security has been beefed up to ensure cricketers do not come in contact with any individual with the IPL 2022 set to begin from March 26.
- Around 25-30 players, support staff, medical staff, members of CSK management, net bowlers will travel to Surat for the training camp.
