That also means, BCCI will extend the deadline to pick three unretained players. Earlier, BCCI had set December 25 as the deadline to finalise the formalities. But now, it will have to wait. RPSG group won the rights for the Lucknow franchise after a whopping Rs 7,090 crore bid. CVC Capital successfully bid with Rs 5,625 crore.

InsideSport already reported that the window to name three players for the two new IPL franchises was set to be extended to beyond December 31 from December 25. RPSG-backed Lucknow franchise had all but finalised a deal with KL Rahul. Apart from this, Lucknow had also confirmed its title partner (front jersey sponsor). But an announcement is now expected only after the CVC gets the green signal officially.
“The Ahmedabad team issue will be sorted next week. Though the IPL GC will formally finalize and announce the Mega-Auction dates but it is likely to be conducted in 2nd week of January,” said one of the top BCCI officials after the AGM in Kolkata. However, BCCI is yet to offer any clarity.

- IPL retentions list is out and the two new franchises will get to pick three unretained players first before the auction.
- BCCI announced CVC will get the rights for Ahmedabad and RPSG will get Lucknow. But both are yet to get the letter of intent.
- BCCI has formed an independent committee to look into CVC’s alleged ties with betting companies.
- They are expected to give a verdict by next week.
