IPL 2022 Meeting: India is currently going through the third wave, forcing BCCI’s plans to derail. The Indian board had to postpone the Ranji Trophy, Cooch Behar Trophy amongst a host of domestic tournaments due to Covid cases. The BCCI doesn’t want to take a risk and see a repeat of the IPL 2021 postponement.
While the IPL 2022 dates are away — tentatively from April 2 — BCCI will need to plan in advance due to the uncertainty of the Covid crisis. As per simulations and epidemic prediction models, the cases in India might peak in March-April. South Africa and Sri Lanka are on standby but BCCI is keen on hosting the matches in India, especially in Mumbai and Pune. The proposal will be discussed with the franchises on Saturday.
