The ‘Unfortunate’ moment – On the fifth ball of the innings, Quinton de Kock drived on the rise sans timing and the ball rolled towards the cover fielder as De Kock set off for the single and then stooped, by the time Rahul saw, he was more than halfway down. Iyer then swooped down on the ball and fired a direct hit at the bowler’s end. Rahul tried to get back in but was short by a yard or so. De Kock knew what he had done and was seen with his hands along with the bat on his head.
Lightning strikes thrice – This is not the first time that KL Rahul has been dismissed on a golden duck. Earlier in the season, in the first match against Gujarat Titans (GT) Rahul was at fault and was seen walking down to the pavilion with empty hands. On the second occasion he was once again unlucky to judge the flight of the delivery and was out for a golden duck against Rajasthan Royals (RR).

KL Rahul misses opportunity to close gap on Jos Buttler– KL Rahul will look at this innings as a missed opportunity to close the gap on Jos Buttler for the Orange Cap race. The LSG skipper is second in the standings and has scored 451 runs and is 167 runs shy of his nearest compatriot. The innings could have served as a perfect opportunity to close the gap, but now will go down as a missed opportunity with Buttler tightening his grip on the Orange Cap.
