LSG beat MI Highlights – KL Rahul FINED: Although the bowling team is required to start the last over in stipulated time, LSG were well short of that. If LSG repeat that slow over-rate offence, KL Rahul will be fined 100% of the match fee and will face a one-match suspension.
“The Lucknow Super Giants have been fined after they maintained a slow over rate during their TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 Match 37 against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Saturday,” a BCCI media release stated.
“As it was the team’s second offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offences, captain KL Rahul was fined Rs 24 lakhs,” a statement added.

IPL 2022: What is slow over rate?
- As per ICC rules, the bowling team must bowl 14.11 overs an hour in T20s.
- For ODIs, it is 14.28 and 15 for Test cricket.
- In T20s, 20 overs are required to be finished in 1 hour and 25 minutes.
- As per the new MCC laws, which is already in effect in the IPL 2022, the bowling team will have one fielder short outside the 30-yard circle.
- As LSG failed to start the final over by 85th minute for a second time, the captain was fined Rs 24 lakh.

IPL 2022: Slow Over-Rate Punishment:
- First Time: Captain fined Rs 12 lakh
- 2nd Time: Captain Fined Rs 24 Lakh, 25% of 6 lakh for each of the 10 other players.
- 3rd Time: Captain Fined 100% of match fee, suspended for one match
- All the players in the Playing XI will have 50% or Rs 12 lakh fine each.

As for the match, KL Rahul starred with a century. He smashed his third century against Mumbai Indians. It was his second century of IPL 2022 as his one-man show helped LSG post 168/6.
Mumbai Indians once again struggled in the chase. Ishan Kishan flopped once again and so did Dewald Brevis. But it was Suryakumar Yadav’s wicket that took MI out of contention. Rohit Sharma top-scored with 39 while Tilak Varma scored 38. Kieron Pollard’s flop show continued as Mumbai Indians managed just 132/8 in 20 overs, losing by 36 runs.
