“Jos Buttler has made a fabulous start to the IPL. He’s the best T20 batter in the world at the moment, by a mile,” Kevin Pietersen said as quoted by mirror.co.uk

“His array of shots and his execution of shots is unmatched, but I also love his calmness and his presence of mind in the middle. KL Rahul is another who has those skills. That’s what sets these guys apart. They are very calm and very calculated, and then have the phenomenal shot-making and ball-striking,” he added.

Jos Buttler is having the time of his life in IPL 2022. He has so far scored 491 runs in 7 innings at an average of 81.83 and strike rate of 161.51.

With so many runs under his belt, Buttler also leads the IPL 2022 most sixes and most fours charts with 41 and 32 respectively.

If Buttler continues his class in IPL 2022, he can pip Kohli’s 2016 record of 4 tons and 973 runs scored in a single season.

Kevin Pietersen- Jos Buttler ‘benefitted from break’

Kevin Pietersen has shared a big reason behind Buttler’s rise to the top as he believes that the right-handed batter has benefitted from break. Buttler was dropped from the England Test team after 0-4 Ashes humiliation that has done world of good for the England wicket-keeper batsman.

“There are several guys who look totally burnt out at the moment. Whereas Jos Buttler benefitted from a break during England’s Test series in the West Indies, you’ve had the likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jonny Bairstow playing all formats and living in bubbles for months on end,” Pietersen concluded.
