Kieron Pollard MI Break-UP? Notably, the five-time champions Mumbai Indians had a nightmarish run in IPL 2022.
While they are known for finishing at the top of the table, they finished at the very bottom this time around.
It is hence expected that the MI management will look to make changes to their squad. According to Chopra, players like Kieron Pollard, Murugan Ashwin and Tymal Mills will surely be handed the axe.
“I think we have seen the last of Kieron Pollard. ₹6 crore will be released if they don’t retain him. I think they can let Murugan Ashwin (₹1.6 crore) go as well. I am not sure about Jaydev Unadkat (₹1.3 crore) but they can definitely say bye bye to Tymal Mills (₹1.5 crore),” Chopra said on a video on his YouTube channel.
All four of these players have not justified their price tags this season.
Pollard has scored 144 runs and has picked up 4 wickets, while Murugan Ashwin has picked up only 9 wickets in his 8 games. Besides that, both Jaydev Unadkat and Tymal Mills have picked up only 6 wickets apiece.

However, while this quartet have had a season to forget, it was Tim David who emerged as a savior for MI in the latter stages.
The Singapore-born cricketer scored 186 runs at an average of 37.20 and a strike rate of 216.27.
Speaking on his influence, Chopra said “He is absolutely brilliant. He was given a chance to bat up the order and delivered. He is a future investment. He has a very good temperament and it doesn’t seem like he will have second-season blues. Also, Mumbai did not show enough confidence in Tim David. But when they did, he showcased his talent.”
