IPL 2022: Former India cricketer Irfan Pathan feels India lacks a left-arm pacer. He feels that the team should closely follow the likes of Chetan Sakariya, Khaleel Ahamed & T Natarajan in IPL 2022. The trio could serve as key weapons like Trent Boult & Shaheen Afridi did for New Zealand and Pakistan in the last T20 World Cup. Follow IPL 2022 latest updates on InsideSport.IN
IPL 2022: Irfan Pathan feels these 3 youngsters from SRH & DC should be included in India’s T20 World Cup squad
“With all these names (the Indian bowlers already part of the squad), I just want to add another name — that of a left-arm bowler, and that can be whoever performs in the IPL — Khaleel Ahmed, Natarajan or Chetan Sakariya. I know Sakariya is a bit rusty at the moment, but if he performs in the IPL, he will be an option. Left is always right!” Irfan Pathan said on Star Sports.
Chetan Sakariya
Chetan Sakariya scalped 14 wickets during his debut season. He also made his white-ball debut during India’s second-string tour to Sri Lanka last year. He entered a bidding war at the auction table before getting sold to Delhi Capitals for Rs 4.2 crore. He dismissed the likes of Rohit Sharma, MS Dhoni, KL Rahul, Jason Roy on debut season.
Khaleel Ahmed
Khaleel Ahmed, who last played for Team India in November 2019, would be keen to come back to the national side. He will for a turnaround in his IPL career after managing just 13 wickets in 14 matches during the last two IPL seasons. He will look to repeat his 2019 heroics where he scalped 19 wickets. He was purchased by Delhi Capitals for Rs 5.25 crore.
T Natarajan
The year 2020 changed the life of T Natarajan. Though he went to Australia as a net bowler, he ended up returning to the country as a player who made his debut in all three formats of the game. Since then, injuries and fitness issues have kept the 30-year-old pacer, Natarajan, out of the team.
Natarajan remained unavailable for most of 2021 with a troubled knee. Now, with days ahead of the IPL 2022 Mega Auction, the pacer is working hard and sweating it out to regain his fitness to the fullest.
“I am feeling fit and raring to go. My knee problem is a thing of the past. I have understood my body well and I am training hard to be in shape for the Ranji Trophy and the IPL,” T Natarajan told The New Indian Express.
