The party is also set to send him to Rajya Sabha from Punjab. According to sources, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is also likely to give command of Sports University to Harbhajan. The cricketer-turned-expert is not the only though who has entered politics. There are many such players such as Gautam Gambhir and Manjot Tiwary, who have ventured into politics. Former KKR captain Gautam Gambhir joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2019. He joined them during the buildup to Lok Sabha Elections. He took on Atishi Marlena and Arvinder Singh Lovely from APP and Congress respectively. It’s been over three years that Gambhir entered politics and fair to say he has done a good job.

The southpaw has also promised to donate salary for renovation and reconstruction of several public places in Delhi. He also cited the installation of a giant first-of-its-kind 20-feet smog tower at Ghazipur.

Former KKR player Manoj Tiwary joined Trinamool Congress on February 2, 2021. The former Bengal captain joined TMC in the presence of West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee. Tiwary is very active on Twitter and comments on a wide range of issues. Incidentally, he was asked to join by TMC in 2011, but he denied it due to cricket. Now Tiwaray is dedicating a majority of its time to politics.

3: Mashrafe Mortaza

Former KKR player Mashrafe Mortaza contested the 11th parliamentary election in 2018. He was from Awami League. Mortaza got the public’s support and love as he got a whopping 271,210 votes. He won the elections and started his political journey on a bright note. Mortaza’s sole aim to enter politics is to serve the people of Bangladesh.

4: Harbhajan Singh

The former CSK and MI player Harbhajan Singh is the latest cricketer to join AAP. Recently, the newly-formed Punjab government swept the Punjab Assembly election. Bhagwant Mann took oath as CM on Wednesday. He has promised to set up a Sports University in Punjab and has plans to give the charge to Harbhajan.

5: Ashoke Dinda

The former RCB pacer Ashoke Dinda joined BJP on February 2021. His sole purpose to join the party is to help people and to lift the profile of Moyna, the city Dinda is from. BJP got in touch with the fast bowler in 2020 and he immediately agreed to come on board.
