He said that he has suffered injuries near his eye during a confrontation with the cops. The incident took place near Bhikaji Cama Police station limits. Speaking to ANI, Tokas said, “On Jan 26, some police personnel stopped my car &asked for Rs 2000 alleging that I wasn’t wearing a mask. When I countered them they sat inside my car, abused me. One of them was Puran Meena who punched me. They took me to PS alleging that I was fleeing with a rifle.”
He further stated that the Police snatches his phone, adding that the authorities were pressuring him not to take any action.
“They snatched my phone. Later one of the personnel at the station told me to compromise saying that they made a mistake…They were pressuring me not to take any action…I have sent an email to DCP and CP demanding suspension of Puran Meena & one other,” he added.

Tokas has played in Ranji Trophy and represents Delhi. He has played 15 First-Class and 11 List-A matches besides 17 T20s.

Reacting to the incident, DCP South-West Gaurav Sharma said that Vikas Tokas was not cooperating and started to misbehave.
“On Republic Day2022, Vikas Tokas was stopped for checking and was not wearing a mask in a public place but instead of cooperating, he arrogantly started misbehaving, asking how a constable rank official dared to stop a national-level cricket player,” he said.
“Police stopped the car and in a scuffle, he was accidentally hit near the eye,” the DCP added.
The police further stated that Tokas’ father-in-law had to give a written apology to set him free.
