IPL 2022: Yuvraj Singh- Rohit Sharma Former Mumbai Indians teammate Yuvraj Singh seems not convinced with the BCCI’s decision of making Rohit Sharma as Test skipper. He feels that the decision was taken purely on the base of fitness but Hitman has been prone to injuries ever since taking charge of the red-ball format. He also stated that Rohit should rather stick to only batting in 5 days format as he only started opening duties a couple of years ago. Follow all the IPL 2022 live updates on InsideSport.IN

IPL 2022: Former MI teammate Yuvraj Singh NOT CONVINCED with Rohit Sharma as Test captain- check why?
“I felt it was an emotional decision to make him a captain in Test cricket. When they made him captain it was announced subject to fitness. You cannot announce your Test captain subject to fitness. He is getting injured a lot. He is at that age where he must look after his body,” Yuvraj Singh told News18.
“It will add pressure to him on Test captaincy as well. It’s been only a couple of years since he started opening the innings in Test cricket. He has been playing well. Let the guy focus on his batting in Test cricket. I hope he enjoys, it’s not easy standing for 5 days in the park,” he added.
However, Yuvraj praised IPL’s most successful captain Rohit Sharma’s leadership in white-ball formats.
“Excellent leader. I played under him when I was playing for Mumbai Indians. Very good thinker, very good captain. Rohit should have been the captain at least in the white-ball cricket a while ago. But since Virat was doing so well and the team was also doing well it wasn’t easy,” he concluded.
Rohit Sharma took charge as India captain after Virat Kohli stepped down post India’s series loss in South Africa.
He guided India to a 2-0 win against Sri Lanka at home in March.
His big challenge will come when India will next play the fifth and final test against England at Edgbaston, Birmingham. They are 2-1 ahead in the five-match Test series.
A win will help India register a big record outside Asia after twice humiliating Australia in own their backyard.
