IPL 2022: Ajit Agarkar joins DC as asst coach – As reported by InsideSport.IN earlier, Delhi Capitals have confirmed Ajit Agarkar as their new assistant coach following Mohammad Kaif’s exit. The former India fast bowler has been with Star Sports’ commentary team for the West Indies series. He will join DC following the Sri Lanka series. “I am very excited to be part of Delhi Capitals squad for this season. I have been lucky enough to be a player and to be returning in a different capacity. It’s obviously very exciting. We have a young and terrific squad led by one of the most talented players in the world – Rishabh Pant. And the coach Ricky Ponting has been a legend of the game. Looking forward to working with them, can’t wait to get started and creating some special memories,” Ajit Agarkar said in a statement.

The 44-year-old, with 288 ODI and 58 Test wickets to his name, has represented Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Daredevils in the IPL. But it will be his first assignment as a coach. He joins the Delhi Capitals coaching staff of Ricky Ponting (Head Coach), Pravin Amre (Assistant Coach) and James Hopes (Bowling Coach).

  • Ajit Agarkar is expected to join Delhi Capitals after fulfilling his Star Sports contract for India vs Sri Lanka series, reported ESPNCricinfo.
  • Agarkar will be taking his first job in a coaching role since his retirement from international cricket.
  • He has played for KKR from IPL 2008-10 and then moved to Delhi Capitals from 2010-13. Overall, he scalped 47 wickets in 62 appearances in the cash-rich league.
  • Agarkar is a big name in Indian Cricket with 288 ODI wickets and 58 wickets in Test formats.
  • Delhi Capitals had topped the group stage and will be keen to finally end trophy drought in IPL 2022.
