IPL 2022: BCCI/IPL have a set protocol – BCCI and IPL have fixed rules for COVID-19. Teams affected by the deadly virus will undergo regular testing and only if they are unable to field 11 players (at least 7 Indians) + 1 sub, then the match rescheduling is considered.

The rule clearly states that the match will go ahead with available players in the squad. The 10 franchises have close to 24 players. Only if they cannot field the 11 first choice players or backups then the match stands cancelled or postponed.
