Speaking for the first time in an exclusive interview for CSK’s social media handles, Milne shared his excitement of working alongside Dhoni. “I’ve sort of bowled to him a few times in the IPL and I’ve bowled to him in some international games before as well. Obviously seen from afar his captaincy and just his knowledge of the game and the sort of subtle changes. So excited to learn more of him and work with him, talking about the game of cricket,” said the 29-year old Kiwi pacer, who was bought by the franchise for 1.9 crores at the auction.
Milne got the first-hand experience of the love and adulation people from all parts of the country shower on CSK, when the team camped at Surat before the start of the season. “To got to a new place, which is not Chennai and just to see how much love they (fans) have for the players and obviously towards MS (Dhoni) and what he’s done for the country. So yeah it’s really special and cool to see the way the fans interact with the players and just the fanfare that goes around the IPL,” he remarked.
Milne is also excited to work alongside his fellow countryman Stephen Fleming. “Really pumped to get to Chennai. To have Flem (Stephen Fleming) as coach, who I sort of knew but I have never worked under him or too much to do with him. So excited to work with him. Learn more from some of the best cricketers in the world. That’s what IPL is all about,” he said.
Milne featured in CSK’s first game of the season against Kolkata Knight Riders. He bowled 2.3 overs and gave away 19 runs in a game that Kolkata won easily by six wickets. The team led by Ravindra Jadeja will take on Lucknow Super Giants next on 31st March, Thursday.
