As per an ESPNCricinfo report, Moeen Ali had to be taken for scans after he hurt his ankle during a training session. The extent of the injury is still unknown as CSK are awaiting scan reports.

Moeen Ali is expected to miss at least a week including the one on Monday against Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 1. However, depending on the extent of the injury, he could be sidelined longer.

Moeen Ali has been off-colour in the IPL 2022 after arriving late due to visa issue. He was dropped from the Playing XI for the Mumbai Indians match. Mitchell Santner who replaced him in the Playing XI for MI clash is set to continue in his absence.

  • Moeen has been below par for CSK this year
  • First, due to VISA issue he arrived late for IPL 2022 and missed a few matches
  • Secondly, his form is patchy. He has just scored 87 Runs in 5 matches this year for CSK.
  • Moeen Ali hasn’t taken any wickets in this edition of IPL. In eight overs, he has conceded 68 runs so far.
  • After he was dropped from the MI match, he has been sidelined with an ankle injury.
  • On the other hand, Santner has played two games this season. He has picked two wicket but his economy rate of 6.71 has been very good.
