Notably, Chahar sustained a right quadriceps strain while playing for India in a T20I game against West Indies last month. It was initially feared that Chahar will miss the entire IPL 2022 season, but he is making good progress and could feature at a later stage in this competition.

The 29-year-old seamer is currently undergoing rehab at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and he recently hit the nets. In a picture uploaded on social media, Chahar wrote “Basics. Baby steps.”

InsideSport spoke to CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan previously, who stated that the franchise is awaiting NCA’s report on the player. “We are still waiting for the BCCI and NCA reports regarding Deepak Chahar’s injury. But at this time we are not thinking of replacement of Deepak Chahar. We expect Deepak Chahar to join CSK soon,” he said.

Meanwhile, CSK will start their IPL 2022 campaign on Saturday with a game against Kolkata Knight Riders. New captain Ravindra Jadeja will lead the team after MS Dhoni stepped down from the role earlier this week.
