IPL 2022: January 22 deadline for new signings – After BCCI formally approved Ahmedabad franchise on Monday, it has given the two new franchises January 22, 5 PM as the deadline to complete the three signings. On Tuesday, BCCI had a conference call with the Lucknow and Ahmedabad franchises, briefing them about the draft process and setting the deadline. The two franchises can spend a maximum of Rs 33 crore on the three new signings. They can pick one uncapped and one overseas player. BCCI has also set the slabs for the three players’ salaries.

While earlier, the BCCI wanted to give two weeks’ time to complete the signing formalities, the Indian board has revised the plans and now will get 10 days time. BCCI believes it will be sufficient for both of them. The January 22 deadline will also help BCCI to maintain the February 12-13 Auction dates barring any further Covid lockdown and restrictions.
During the conference call, BCCI also informed the franchises that there will be a franchise meet with all 10 teams before the IPL auction.
Three first pick guidelines – The new teams, however, cannot sign more than one uncapped player and they are permitted to pay more than the stipulated fee on the condition that they would lose that much money from the salary cap of Rs 90 crore.

Salary slabs for the three picks:
- Maximum to be spent: Rs 33 Crore
- Player 1: Rs 15 Crore
- Player 2: Rs 11 Crore
- Player 3: Rs 7 Crore
- An uncapped player can be paid a maximum of Rs 4 Crore
- Maximum 1 uncapped and one overseas player can be picked from the unretained players’ draft.
- If they pick two capped players, they can be paid Rs 14 crore and Rs 10 crore.

Marcus Stoinis – Rs 9.2 crore
Ravi Bishnoi – Rs 4 crore
Ahmedabad:
Hardik Pandya (Captain) – Rs 15 crore
