IPL 2022: BCCI allots 5 practice venues for all 10 teams in Mumbai, teams to star arriving from March 8

The BCCI has identified five practice venues in Mumbai for the league stage of IPL 2022 which kicks off on March 26, with Chennai Super Kings taking on the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium. As per the Times of India, each franchise will be based in a separate hotel to ensure that the bio-secure environment is created and maintained at each of the hotels with “dedicated areas” for the teams. A green corridor will be created for the teams to ensure a “safe passage and smooth movement” of the 10 teams for matches and practice.

The five practice venues are as follows

  • Brabourne Stadium at Cricket Club of India
  • DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai
  • Reliance Corporate Park, Navi Mumbai
  • MCA Ground, Thane
  • MCA Ground, Bandra-Kurla Complex

As per directives, the teams are likely to start arriving in Mumbai around March 8, with practice sessions set to begin from March 14 or 15. As part of the bio-bubble rules, all participants, including players, coaches and support staff, will undergo strict quarantine for 3-5 days before entering the team’s bubble. Should a member test positive, separate arrangements will be made for the person.

Likewise, all players and staff will undergo RT-PCR tests 48 hours before travelling to Mumbai. While in quarantine, the players will be tested thrice and will be allowed to exit the quarantine only if all three tests return negative.
