The entire team will remain in isolation until Tuesday morning and will undergo another round of door-to-door Covid testing. Once all three return negative, the team will be able to travel to Pune where they will play PBKS and RR on April 20 and 22.

IPL 2022: Delhi Capitals COVID-19 scare

  • Mithcell Marsh and a masseur with the team have tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday.
  • The DC team, which were set to travel to Pune, were put under isolation with COVID-19 tests scheduled for today and tomorrow.
  • All players tested negative including Mitchell Marsh in the first round of RT-PCR test.
  • In the 2nd round of RT-PCR test, Marsh tested positive again.
  • Apart from Marsh, two members of Delhi Capitals staff and three hotel members tested positive.
  • They will undergo another test on Tuesday morning.
  • The outbreak has derailed DC’s itinerary, putting their game against Punjab Kings at risk.
  • A call on the match will be taken after the RT-PCR test on Tuesday morning.

Earlier, Delhi Capitals physio Patrick Farhart had had been isolated after testing positive. Mitchell Marsh tested positive in the Rapid antigen test and the entire squad was put into isolation. A masseur with the team also tested positive in the more accurate RT-PCR test.

“DC were supposed to travel to Pune today but the entire squad members have been told to retire to their respective rooms and as per protocol RT PCR is being done to ascertain whether there is an outbreak in the camp or it is an isolated case like Patrick Farhart,” a BCCI source told PTI on Monday.

The Delhi Capitals are scheduled to play against Punjab Kings in Pune on Wednesday (April 20). Their next course of action is being deliberated with the BCCI. As per the updated rules of the IPL, should a game be called off due to a COVID-19 outbreak, the BCCI will try and reschedule the game later in the season. Should they fail to do so, Punjab will be awarded the two points from the game.
