Royal Challengers Bangalore roped in the services of veteran South African batter Faf du Plessis for a salary cap of 7 crores and would open the batting lineup for the Bangalore outfits. However, the most important news that is likely to take is the selection of the captain for RCB.
With Virat Kohli vacating the skipper’s spot in late 2021, RCB was left with a preferable captain choice. Though Glenn Maxwell was the second batter, to be retained by RCB after Kohli was deemed to be the skipper, now the inclusion of du Plessis changed the entire complexion of the captain’s spot.
Du Plessis, now 37-year-old is a man who is on a mission and is likely to lead the team to their first-ever IPL title in 2022. Faf du Plessis who was a part of the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2021 had a phenomenal season last year. The 37-year-old batter from South Africa scored 633 runs in 16 innings at a high average of 45.21. He will be teaming up with Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxwell to form a devastating batting lineup for RCB in IPL 2022.
