Ever since his return to competitive cricket after a calf-injury cut short his T20 World Cup campaign, Roy has been in terrific form with the bat. He made his comeback in the limited-overs series against West Indies last month and in the practice game smashed 115 runs off just 47 balls. In the T20I series, he scored just fifty in five matches.
He featured in his very first match in the seventh edition of the PSL yesterday and immediately made a mark with this whirlwind knock. He scored 116 off just 57 balls, showing why he is touted as one of the most destructive openers in the world. What was most impressive in his knock is that it came against bowlers like Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf and Rashid Khan, one of the best bowling line-ups in the PSL.

- His knock would have definitely caught the eye of the IPL teams and he must be on the radar of a number of franchises.
- Eventhough a regular for England, Roy hasn’t had much of a run in the IPL.
- He has so far played for three different teams – now-defunct Gujarat Lions, Delhi Capitals & Sunrisers Hyderabad and has featured in only 13 games.
- He has amassed 329 runs which comprise a couple of half-centuries with a high-score of 91.
- In the last IPL, he couldn’t find any buyers in the auction and was signed in as a replacement player by the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
