As per a Cricbuzz report, all 10 franchises are still uncertain on the availability of overseas stars, especially those from England and Australia after BCCI revealed the list of 220 shortlisted players for the IPL 2022 Auction. The tournament is scheduled to be played for a duration of two months starting potentially on March 27, but an official schedule is yet to be announced.

The participation of English players for the entirety of the IPL 2022 was cast in doubt with a three-Test series against New Zealand to shortly begin after the IPL 2022. Following the Ashes debacle, England will want their players to have some red-ball practice and could recall their test starts midway through May to play in the County Championship. A host of English stars including Ben Stokes, Joe Root and Chris Woakes have already pulled out of the auction.

A franchise official told Cricbuzz, “In an ideal scenario, we would have preferred to know the availability with the auction list. It helps in planning but there were occasions we were given this crucial the night before the auction.”
