IPL 2022 Auction Dates – BCCI & IPL Governing Council was planning to conduct the IPL 2022 auctions in the 1st week of January. But the Indian board is now in a fix. BCCI had earlier in a informal comminique to the franchises had told that auctions will be conduected in the 1st week of January. But now with delay in finalization of issues related to the Ahmedabad franchise, the auctions can even get pushed to the 4th Week of January.

“We are still waiting for the specially appointed committee’s decision on CVC’s ownership of Ahmedabad franchise. Until or unless that is not done, auction dates can’t be finalized. Moreover, we have to even give proper window to both Lucknow & Ahmedbad teams to complete their 3 signings before the IPL Auctions. We don’t see auction happening before 3rd or even 4th week of January”, said the top BCCI official to InsideSport.

IPL 2022 Auction Dates – Not only the auction dates are getting pushed, but BCCI is postponing two more important datelines. After the two new franchises were announced on October 25th, BCCI had given few important datelines in regard to the future of IPL 2022 & otherwise.

  • IPL 2022 Retention Nov 30th: BCCI had asked all existing 8 franchises to finalize their retentions before Nov 30th. This deadline was adhered to by the franchises.
  • December 25th – Was the deadline set for the two existing franchises to finalize their 3 signings before the MEGA-AUCTION.
  • IPL Media Rights Auction: It was also decided by the BCCI that the IPL Media Right Auctions will be completed by January 2022.
  • IPL 2022 Mega Auction by January 1st Week as per initial deadline

BCCI achieved it’s 1st deadline on Retentions for IPL 2022 as all 8 franchises announced the list of their retained players.

But the rest of 3 deadlines will be pushed because of pending decision on Ahmedabad franchise.

“We can’t do anything about it. Yes all of these things will now be pushed by few weeks”, said the BCCI official

IPL 2022 Auction Dates – Lucknow franchise starts making announcements

The ownership of CVC-backed Ahmedabad franchise stays undecided but Lucknow franchise has started making their announcements. 

The Lucknow IPL team promoters have already announced Andy Flower as Coach of the team & Gautam Gambhir as mentor of the team.

Adhering to the diktat from BCCI, Lucknow franchise has currently stalled all conversations with the players for potential signings. But InsideSport can confirm that official signing with KL Rahul is just a formality now.

What is the current status on Ahmedabad IPL franchise? The board has formed an independent committee to look into CVC’s alleged links with betting companies.

It was earlier expected that before the end of this week, the appointed committe will announce its decision. But it seems committee will still take few days before they pronounce the judgement on Ahmedabad franchise. 

Till the time, decision on Ahmedabad franchise comes in – BCCI has asked Lucknow to halt all conversation with the players for signings.
