The opening batsman had smashed record 633 runs for CSK to guide Chennai to the 4th IPL trophy. He finished just a couple of runs short of Orange Cap winner Ruturaj Gaikwad who scored 635 runs in the last edition of IPL. “We look forward to getting them back. For example, Faf has been a team man who has taken us to the finals of two important seasons. It will be our endeavour to go and try for him. But it’s not in our hands. We wish them all the very best wherever they are. We look forward to having a very good 2022,” Vishwanathan said in a video shared by CSK.

  • Faf du Plessis has amassed 380, 303, 398 and 633 in last four IPL seasons, CSK won two trophies during this period.
  • He shared crucial opening partnerships with Gaikwad to ensure CSK win the tournament despite a middle-order wobble.
  • CSK paid Rs 1.6 crore to the 37-year-old for last four seasons. His price is likely to skyrocket as CSK is likely to face a stiff challenge in the bidding war.
  • du Plessis’s IPL best salary is Rs 4.75 crore and he is expected to breach the mark.
