IPL 2022 Auction: 5 players who are likely to break mega auction records- Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Josh Hazlewood- The IPL 2022 Auction promises to be a huge spectacle with many international stars heading into the auction pool ahead of the new three-year cycle. With teams hitting the rest button, the demand for A-list superstars will be high during the auctions and one can expect some huge money spent on some perennial IPL superstars.

Former Delhi Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer was released by the franchise as he wanted to test waters and enter the auction pool. The demand for Iyer’s services will be huge, considering that the Mumbai born batsman provides a versatile middle-order option. He could also be the captain, with five teams looking at new leaders, and could very well operate as the face of a franchise. His form has been superb over the past few months, including a century and a fifty on Test debut making history at Kanpur.

KL Rahul

One of India’s finest batsmen, KL Rahul is in the prime of his career and talks are already suggesting that the former Punjab Kings captain could very well earn a Rs 20 Cr package from one of the new teams. Perennial orange cap contender, leadership option, wicket-keeper and experienced batsman – KL Rahul boasts of all these qualities making him a desired pick for all franchises in the auction.

David Warner

David Warner has a phenomenal record in the IPL and is the leading run-getter among overseas players. While the Australian did have a season to forget last year, he bounced back in style to win the player of the tournament, helping Australia clinch their maiden T20 World Cup title. Warner fell out with the SRH management and was not retained, and will be on many team’s radar should his name be called out in the auction.

David Warner’s Sunrisers Hyderabad and Sunrisers Hyderabad teammate Mitchell Marsh has been in stellar form in 2021, making the No.3 spot in the Australian side his own. Marsh shone with the bat at the t20 World Cup and is likely to attract massive bids in the auction. His medium pace is also a valuable asst to have and Marsh should be one of the most sought after players in the IPL 2022 auction pool.

Josh Hazlewood

Josh Hazlewood has come leaps and bounds as a T20 bowler and played a starring role for the Chennai Super Kings in the latter stages of the IPL 2021 title win. He then followed it up with a superb performance at the T20 World Cup, helping Australia win their maiden title. A cunning bowler, Josh Hazlewood to hold his line and hit the right length has earned him plaudits all over the world, and franchises will be keen to secure his services and will earmark him to lead their attack.
