IPL 2022: Dwayne Bravo says Dhoni played a big role in shaping his career

1) Dwayne Bravo
West Indies allrounder Dwayne Bravo has played a number of seasons for Chennai Super Kings. He became a vital cog of the franchise as Dhoni brought the best in him in the death overs. The allrounder has played 9 seasons for CSK under Dhoni and won three IPL trophies- 2011, 2018 and 2021. He is the highest wicket-taker for the franchise with 138 wickets in 120 games after joining CSK in 2011.
2) Ruturaj Gaikwad
Ruturaj Gaikwad had an impressive start in IPL 2020 where he impressed CSK with his opening potential. He was trusted and got a chance to make his mark in IPL 2021. However, he failed badly in the first few matches that Chennai would have easily removed him from the playing XI. However, Dhoni’s CSK backed him and Gaikwad overcame the lean patch and then dominated the UAE leg to win the Orange Cap.
3) Shane Watson
CSK opener Shane Watson played a big role in IPL 2018 final to guide the franchise to 3rd IPL title but he had a dismal IPL season. He failed to provide CSK starts for a number of games but the franchise backed him continuously. MS Dhoni & CSK team management kept backing him and the latter single-handily won the trophy for Chennai. He delivered his IPL best performances under MS Dhoni’s leadership.
4) Moeen Ali
England allrounder Moeen Ali called it a dream to play under MS Dhoni when he joined CSK. He made headlines in his debut season and sealed the number 3 spot. What caught everyone’s eye was the fact that he played even better than he does for England. It proves Dhoni’s genius to get the best out of a player. Moeen Ali was rewarded for his performances with retention for a hefty Rs 8 crore package ahead of Faf du Plessis.
5) Deepak Chahar
CSK played a big role in the growth of Deepak Chahar as a cricketer. He has been touted as the best powerplay over the bowler and the credit goes to one man- MS Dhoni. His consistent performances paved way for his inclusion in the Team India squad. He also went on to be part of the standby list for the T20 World Cup. The youngster is only expected to go up from here.
6) Ravindra Jadeja
MS Dhoni accepted a pay cut and settled for slab 2 to ensure R Jadeja get slab 1 pay of Rs 16 crore. His IPL salary surged by Rs 9 crore to ensure CSK retain his services for the upcoming 2-3 more seasons. Under Dhoni, CSK has groomed R Jadeja as one of the greatest all-rounders of modern times. He has played record 200 IPL matches and is likely to become captain after Dhoni’s retirement.
7) Ambati Rayudu
Ambati Rayudu is one of the key players behind the scenes for CSK. He owes his growth as a cricketer to none other than MS Dhoni. Playing for the franchise helped him to represent India and even after the 2019 WC axe, CSK continued with his services. He is still one of the unsung heroes of IPL and there would be no surprises if the franchise once again go after his services.
