In the process, the Aussie all-rounder equalled the record for the fastest half-century in the Indian Premier League when he got to the milestone off only 14 balls. He now holds the record with KL Rahul.
Scripting his debut in the cash-rich league in splendid fashion, 22-year-old Indian batter Ayush Badoni headlined the game with his remarkable display in the Lucknow Super Giants vs Gujarat Titans match, by smashing an impeccable half-century. Lalit Yadav (Delhi Capitals)
Lalit Yadav played the innings of his life with an unbeaten 48 to propel a depleted Delhi Capitals in their season opener with a stunning four-wicket win over Mumbai Indians here on Sunday.
Chasing a challenging 178, Delhi were 72/5 inside 10 overs but the lesser-known Delhi all-rounder Yadav stayed calm during his 38-ball unbeaten knock to take his side home. Yadav smashed four boundaries and two sixes, while Axar Patel had two fours and three maximums as the duo stitched a match-winning 75-run partnership from 30 balls for the seventh wicket.
Akash Deep (Royal Challengers Bangalore)
Akash Deep was one of the star performers for RCB with the ball in their second fixture against KKR, claiming three wickets for 45 runs. He hit the pitch hard and was rewarded with the scalps of Venkatesh Iyer and Nitish Rana.
Although a similar ploy did not come off for him against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the same venue (DY Patil Stadium), the 25-year-old asserted that he was confident of executing his short-ball skills against KKR.

The Proteas eventually had to be taken out of attack. The incident happened when Nortje was bowling his third over in the innings. Having already bowled a full toss to the face of Quinton de Kock in the earlier over, which was smashed for a six, Nortje once again bowled a beamer to Deepak Hooda in the third ball of the 16th over.
Indian batter Manish Pandey has been struggling with bad form for quite a long period. The right-handed batter was purchased by the Lucknow Super Giants at a cost of INR 4.6 crore in the IPL 2022 mega auction.
In first match against GT, Pandey was looking confident and scored a boundary on the third ball he faced. However, the right-handed batter was cleaned up by pacer Mohammed Shami through an excellent in-swinging delivery. Pandey scored six runs in that match.
Just like the first match, Pandey did not managed to get going in the second one. The 32-year-old was playing on five runs when he was caught at mid-off off the bowling of pacer Tushar Deshpande. After two flop shows, the LSG management will be thinking of excluding Pandey from the playing XI in next game.
