IPL 2021 Final Squads – Will these 7 Players be available? With just a few hours left for the squad submission for IPL 2021 Phase 2 in UAE, tension is mounting for the franchises. The Indian cricket board has set August 20 as the deadline to submit the final squad for the remaining 31 fixtures. But a number of England and Australian players are yet to decide on their participation. Riley Meredith and Jhye Richardson, in particular, have confirmed their unavailability. The Punjab Kings franchise are in negotiations with the two Aussies for IPL 2021 Phase 2.

“Yes, we have only been informed about their not returning last night. But we are still in talks with Riley and Jhye and nothing is yet finalised. We are hopeful of finding a solution and hope to see them return in UAE,” Satish Menon told InsideSport.

IPL 2021 Final Squads – Will these 7 Players be available?

1. Jos Buttler

England wicket-keeper batsman Jose Buttler in a recent interview confirmed that he is unlikely to be available for the upcoming IPL 2021 Phase 2 in UAE.

“Usually the IPL does not clash with any international cricket. When it does clash, probably England will take precedence,” BBC quoted Buttler as saying.

But the international matches for England have been postponed to pave way for the IPL 2021 Phase 2. Will Jos Buttler change his decision – Rajasthan Royals is still waiting to hear from him.

2. Pat Cummins

Australia pacer Pat Cummins who plays for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) is all but out of IPL Phase 2 in UAE. Though he has dropped hints many times he won’t be available – but official message in this regard is yet to reach BCCI or KKR.

“Unfortunately, at this stage, I probably won’t be going to the IPL. I haven’t made an official call on it. But my partner is pregnant and our baby is due in the middle of the IPL. At the moment, there is travel restriction getting back to Australia, you got to do 2 weeks quarantine,” Pat Cummins had said on YouTube earlier this week.

3. Steve Smith

Steve Smith is yet to confirm his availability in the IPL 2021 phase 2. He had given the tours of the Caribbean and Bangladesh a miss due to a left elbow injury, which had been troubling him since last year.

However, he has been recovering well with the 32-year-old batting in the nets for an hour at a time at New South Wales” training and is set to be available for the resumption of the IPL, according to cricket.com.au. Delhi Capitals still waiting for his final yes or no.

4. Varun Chakaravarthy & 5. Kamlesh Nagarkoti

Unpleasant news has hit Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) camp just days ahead of their departure for the second leg of IPL 2021 in the UAE. KKR’s mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy and pacer Kamlesh Nagarkoti have been called to the National Cricket Academy as the two have been quite injury-prone in the past. The two are undertaking fitness tests and will have to receive a green signal from NCA before flying to the UAE for the remaining matches of the tournament.

6, 7. Andrew Tye & Adam Zampa

The likes of Andrew Tye (RR) and Adam Zampa (RCB) had pulled out of the IPL 2021 opening leg mid-season citing COVID concerns. While Zampa can further bolster RCB in the UAE leg, Andrew Tye will be looking to get games in the remaining matches. Riley Meredith & Jhye Richardson

Aussies Riley Meredith and Jhye Richardson have confirmed that they will not be available for the upcoming IPL 2021 Phase 2 in UAE. The two players are key to the Punjab Kings and the franchise have entered negotiations to ensure that the two players will be available. While Meredith was bought for Rs 8 crore, Richardson had landed a 14 crore deal with the franchise.
