IPL 2021 Replacements: The second phase of IPL 2021 Phase 2 witnessed a number of pullouts due to mental health issues coupled with bubble fatigue due to COVID-19. Over 15 players withdrew from the tournament, offering a chance for the new faces to showcase their skills in the remaining fixtures. Royal Challengers Bangalore witnessed as many as 5 pullouts, including injured Washington Sundar in the list. Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings witnessed 4 and 3 players pullouts respectively. RCB (Royal Challengers Bangalore)

George Garton for Kane Richardson

England uncapped player Geroge Garton earned a place in the RCB squad for his heroics in The Hundred for Southern Brave. He has taken 44 wickets in 38 T20s and is likely to warm the bench for the Men in Red.

Wanindu Hasaranga for Adam Zampa

Sri Lanka’s new spin sensation got an opportunity to play for Virat Kohli-led RCB after his heroics during the recently concluded India tour of Sri Lanka (limited-overs series). Since then he has become a consistent performer for his national side.

Dushmantha Chameera for Daniel Sams

Another Sri Lanka player Dushmantha Chameera also earned an IPL contract for his decent bowling performance against India. He is likely to sit on the bench amid the likes of star players in the RCB squad.

Tim David for Jofra Finn Allen

Singapore-based batsman Tim David who is in excellent form in the ongoing CPL 2021 also earned an IPL contract. He bats at a strike rate of 153+ in the shortest version of the game.

Akash Deep for Washington Sundar

The 24-year-old Bengal seamer, Akash Deep, has been a net bowler for RCB. While he will not be a like-to-like replacement, the franchise has been impressed with his work at the nets.

Glenn Phillips for Jofra Archer

New Zealand’s swashbuckling batsman Glenn Phillips was rewarded for his excellent T20 record. He has amassed 3998 runs in 144 T20s with 4 centuries and 25 fifties. He can establish himself as a vital cog in the Rajasthan Royals setup.

Tabraiz Shamsi for Andrew Tye

World No.1 T20I bowler Tabraiz Shamsi replaced Australia’s Andrew Tye. The South Africa spinner is a consistent performer in the T20 format. He will look to spin a web against opposition as RR eyes playoff spot.

Evin Lewis for Jos Buttler

Swashbuckling West Indies batsman is a like-to-like replacement for Jos Buttler. Once he gets going, Lewis can go to on score quickfire fifties or even centuries. He is expected to play some crucial innings as Rajasthan Royals search for their only second trophy in the Indian Premier League.

Oshane Thomas for Ben Stokes

Oshane Thomas, who was left out in IPL 2021 auction, has been given an opportunity to prove himself. The West Indies pacer needs to overcome his lean patch in the ongoing CPL 2021 if he makes it to the RR playing XI.

IPL 2021 Replacements: Punjab Kings

Nathan Ellis for Riley Meredith

Nathan Ellis, who took a hat-trick in his maiden appearance for Australia, also landed a contract with IPL franchise Punjab Kings. He was roped in as a replacement for another Aussie Riley Meredith who was purchased for Rs 8 crore. However, Ellis is unlikely to feature in the playing Xi owing to his lack of experience in the T20 format.

Adil Rashid for Jhye Richardson

England spinner Adil Rashid who emerged as the joint-highest wicket-taker in ‘The Hundred’, will represent Punjab Kings in phase 2 of IPL 2021. He was chosen as a replacement for Rs 14 crore price-tag player Riley Meredith. Can Rashid fill the shoe with his web of spin? Wait and watch

South Africa opening batsman Aiden Markram who is in smashing form for his national side landed IPL 2021 contract a few hours after the pullout of the England opener and World No.1 T20I batsman Dawid Malan.

Ben Dwarshuis for Chris Woakes

Ben Dwarshuis has scalped 100 wickets in 82 T20 matches at an average of 23.73. The 27-year-old plays for the Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League, and is the sixth-highest wicket-taker in the history of the tournament with 85 wickets in 69 matches.
