IPL 2021: Seven most exciting new signings in IPL Phase 2 in UAE

1) Tim David
Tim David became the first player from Singapore to take part in the Indian Premier League (IPL) after Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) signed the big hitter. Tim has represented Hobart Hurricanes in the BBL and is known for his big-hitting skills. With the likes of Virat Kohli, Ab de Villiers and Glenn Maxwell in their ranks, the inclusion of Tim will only bolster the RCB batting order. The 25-year-old has played 53 T20s and has scored 1285 runs with an unbeaten 92 as his highest score. He has slammed seven half-centuries at a brilliant strike rate of 156.32. The Singaporean, RCB’s new recruit recently scored a half-century for Saint Lucia Kings. On his debut game, Tim scored a brilliant 56 off just 28 deliveries.

2) Tim Southee
Kolkata Knight Riders roped in New Zealand pacer Tim Southee in place of Australian fast bowler Pat Cummins. The 32-year-old represented Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals in the past. The right-arm swing bowler is a veteran of 201 T20s and has taken 224 wickets with best figures of 6/16 at an economy of 8.30. In the IPL, Southee has played 40 matches and has taken 28 wickets with the best figures of 3/24.

3) Adil Rashid
Punjab Kings signed England spinner Adil Rashid as a replacement for Jhye Richardson. The joint-highest wicket-taker at The Hundred, Adil’s inclusion will help Punjab strengthen their spin department. In 201 T20 matches, Adil has picked 232 wickets with 4/19 as his best figures. The England spinner had gone unsold in the IPL 2021 auction for a base price of Rs. 1.5 crore but will represent Punjab Kings in the remainder of the IPL.

4) Tabraiz Shamsi
Rajasthan Royals signed South Africa’s Tabrez Shamsi for the remainder of IPL 2021 to be held in UAE. The left-arm wrist spinner had represented Royal Challengers Bangalore in the past and will come in handy with his variations. In 163 T20 matches, Shamsi has picked 183 wickets with 4/10 as his best figures. The World No. 1 T20 spinner has taken three wickets in four games in the IPL and in the recently concluded The Hundred, the South African took seven wickets for Oval Invincibles.

5) Glenn Phillips
New Zeland batsman Glenn Phillips will be representing Rajasthan Royals in the UAE leg of the IPL 2021. The 24-year-old has come in place of Jos Buttler and has played 25 T20s. The wicketkeeper-batsman has played 138 T20s and has scored 3860 runs with an unbeaten 116 as his highest. He will be an exciting prospect to watch.

6) George Garton
The left-arm quick from England will be representing Royal Challengers Bangalore in the upcoming IPL. He is considered to be a bowling all-rounder and has played 38 T20s. With 44 wickets and 4/16 as his best figures, Garton has scored 187 with 46 as his highest.

7) Nathan Ellis
Australian pacer Nathan Ellis is another exciting prospect to look for after he was signed by Punjab Kings for Phase 2 of IPL 2021. Ellis made his international debut during the recently concluded tour of Bangladesh, where he became the first to pick up a hat-trick on his T20I debut. In 33 T20s, he has taken 38 wickets with 4/34 as his best bowling figures.
