Ruturaj Gaikwad’s IPL 2021

CSK’s rising star Gaikwad has become youngest batsman to win Orange Cap in IPL history. He went past Punjab Kings captain KL Rahul to take the pole position with 600+ runs in the IPL season. The 24-year-old broke the previous record held by Australia’s Shaun Marsh, who scored 616 runs in IPL 2008 for Punjab Kings. Marsh was just 25 years old at that time.

  • Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 600+ runs in his only second IPL season for CSK. His sensational batting performance guided MS Dhoni’s CSK to the 9th IPL Final.
  • He stepped up during key phases for the yellow army throughout the tournament and took CSK out of trouble in multiple games.
  • The youngster also shared a number of match-defining opening partnerships with experienced Faf du Plessis throughout the season.
  • Gaikwad, who became the only second player to complete 600 runs in IPL 2021, needed just 23 runs to overtake KL Rahul in IPL 2021 Final.
  • Touted as one of the finds of the season, he announced his arrival in IPL 2021 after smashing 3 fifties in just 6 appearances during the last edition of IPL.
