IPL 2021 – CSK MS Dhoni Training Camp: Chennai Super Kings are going all guns at their training camp for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 season. CSK skipper MS Dhoni, who is probably playing his last edition, is doing everything to overcome the ghosts from last year and get his hands on the shiny IPL trophy for the fourth time. He has also introduced a new training method to help the young guns get used to the demanding nature of the league.
IPL 2021 – CSK MS Dhoni’s Masterstroke in Practice, employs unique method
Dhoni is known for his tactical acumen and once again he is employing the same in the practice. Check how?
- Dhoni has given players different match situations as per their positions and roles
- For Ex – Ruturaj Gaikward is being asked to score 60 Runs in last 6 Overs
- Another player is being asked to build innings, if team is down two wickets without scoring.
These kinds of match simulations are preparing CSK players for the tough moments accoridng to CSK’s IPL 2020 star youngster Ruturaj Gaikwad.
“Last week was all about having little bit feel of how is it in the match, match simulations. What we are practising in the nets, is it going in the right direction or is it clearing the rope, or is it getting through the gaps. So, the idea behind the match-simulation was this thing. Our captain suggested this,” he said.

He added that training in the nets and in such situations is a different ball game altogether. “When we are batting in the nets, it is not ideally the match situation. We just go around, and play some shots and we are not really worried about what the score is or what the team’s score is.
“We had match-simulations, having six overs, targetting sixty, or sometimes you are two wickets down and you have to build up from there,” Ruturaj said.
Gaikwad believes this strategy helped him understand his shortcomings and work on them. It gave him an opportunity to introspect.

“I myself particularly got to know where I am heading. If I am in good shape, or am I hitting the ball well,” he said.
Not only this, Dhoni along with team’s fitness trainer is also taking team through rigorous fitness training schedule everyday. Few of the top CSK players like Suresh Raina & Ravindra Jadeja are yet to join the camp. According to CSK team management, Raina is expected to join on 24th while Jadeja is currently rehabilitating at NCA and will join end of this week.
