IPL 2021: Indian Premier League (IPL) ever since its inception, has acted as a hunting ground for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The extravagant T20 league has produced many big names such as Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya amongst others. IPL has also given international-level exposure to players, which has eased their transition from domestic cricket to the senior Indian team. Prithvi Shaw (Delhi Capitals):

In the ongoing edition, Delhi Capitals’ Prithvi Shaw has managed to score 754 runs from seven matches and as a result, he has broken Agarwal’s record who had registered 723 runs in the 2017-18 edition of Vijay Hazare Trophy. He is now the highest run-getter in the ongoing tournament. The youngster has been in red-hot form scoring four centuries in seven games at an average and strike rate of 188.50 and 134.88. He is also at the helm of the highest individual scorer’s list with 227 against Puducherry.

– Devdutt Padikkal (Royal Challengers Bangalore):

Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Devdutt Padikkal is the second-highest scorer with 695 runs. He is also running to break Agarwal’s record. The Karnataka-born four centuries and two fifties with the highest score being 152. The 20-year-old will be one of the U-23 players to watch out for this season.

– Nitish Rana (Kolkata Knight Riders):

The KKR management would be a happy lot seeing Nitish Rana’s current form. The Delhi batsman is the fifth-highest scorer with 398 runs from seven games. He has scored 66.33 runs on an average with a strike rate of 97.78. Rana has scored two fifties and a ton. His back in form would make life easy for KKR, who struggled due to their struggling top-order batsmen.

– Krunal Pandya (Mumbai Indians)

While one of the Pandya brothers (Hardik) will be donning the Indian jersey, the other half Krunal was busy with the bat in Vijay Hazare. Representing Baroda, the 29-year-old in five games has 388 runs at an average of 129.33 and strike rate of 117.93.

– Robin Uthappa (Chennai Super Kings)

Age is just a number, while the phrase has been used many times in history, Robin Uthappa perfectly personified it during the Vijay Hazare Trophy. In six games, the now CSK man has scored 377 runs at an average of 75.40 and strike rate of 131.81. His current form will certainly be taken into consideration when MS Dhoni and CSK team selectors sit to pick their playing XI.
