IPL 2022 Mega Auction: Virender Sehwag makes huge claim, says “If Hardik Pandya doesn’t bowl, he wouldn’t be able to fetch big money at auction”
IPL 2022 Mega Auction – Hardik Pandya IPL Salary: Virender Sehwag has question marks over Hardik Pandya’s fitness and believes that Mumbai Indians will not be retaining the all-rounder before the IPL 2022 mega auction.
Hardik Pandya total IPL Salary
Year | Team | Salary |

Pandya was retained by the franchise before the 2018 auctions alongside Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah, but has struggled with injuries and patchy form over the years, making his place in the side questionable despite his talent.
Virender Sehwag said that while Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah will again be on the top of the list, someone like Ishan Kishan would serve them better than retaining the services of Hardik, given that he doesn’t bowl.
The former India opener said, “I think I would retain Ishan Kishan, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah. Ishan seems to be in it for the long haul, age is on his side so he can serve you better. If Hardik Pandya doesn’t bowl, I don’t think he would be able to fetch big money at the auction because due to his injury concerns, everyone would think twice.”

IPL 2022 Mega Auction: Virender Sehwag makes huge claim, says “If Hardik Pandya doesn’t bowl, he wouldn’t be able to fetch big money at auction”
Sehwag added, “Will he bowl or not? If he can declare himself fit and start bowling then teams can buy him at the auction. The kind of performance Ishan Kishan has dished out today (vs SRH), expect many more from him in time to come because is a top order batsman, unlike Hardik Pandya who bats lower.”
While it is still uncertain on how the rules might be for the IPL 2022 mega auction, Hardik Pandya’s retention or the lack of it will be a huge talking point. Hardik, who has been with Mumbai since 2015, hasn’t resumed bowling full-time despite having undergone an operation to fix his back. He has bowled sporadically, but MI have refrained from using him over the last two seasons, considering the fragility of his condition. Hardik had a forgettable IPL 2021, scoring 127 runs in 12 games at a strike rate of 113.39 and an average of 14.11, which included a top score of 40*.
