IPL 2021: Harbhajan Singh hints at retirement – Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) star Harbhajan Singh has hinted at calling time on his playing career and venture into coaching following the end of the current IPL season. The 41-year-old was purchased by the two-time champions during the auctions last year and has played thrice, all of which came in Phase 1. Singh has been the stalwarts of the IPL, playing in all seasons of the tournament except last year in the UAE.

Harbhajan Singh hints at retirement: Speaking to the commentators midway during the game between KKR and Rajasthan Royals, Harbhajan Singh hinted that IPL 2021 could be his final season as a player. The 41-year-old said that while he remains unsure of his next steps, he is enjoying his time in the KKR set-up, having signed for the franchise for this season. Harbhajan said, “Don’t know If I’m gonna play further but enjoying my time in KKR.”

The former India spinner however would be keen to take up a coaching role and contribute towards Indian cricket in the future. Bhajji said, “Cricket has been the biggest thing that happened to me, would like to serve Indian cricket in whatever way I can. Whether it’s coaching or mentor, I’d be more than happy to the needful and help the team.”

Harbhajan Singh is one of the leading wicket-takers in IPL history has enjoyed a glorious career with Mumbai Indians, followed by stints and Chennai Super Kings and the Kolkata Knight Riders. The 41-year-old is fifth in the list of all-time leading wickets takers in the IPL, having scalped 150 wickets in 163 games. Only Lasith Malinga, Dwayne Bravo, Amit Mishra and Piyush Chawla have taken more. He has won four IPL titles, three with Mumbai Indians, and one with the Chennai Super Kings in 2018.
