IPL 2021 – Shreyas Iyer Delhi Capitals: The dates for the 2nd phase of Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) is out and table-toppers Delhi Capitals has some good news. Their Ex-Captain Shreyas Iyer is back in nets after 4 months of injury lay-off. According to report by Cricbuzz, Iyer now has started doing nets with none other than former India batsman & Delhi Capital batting coach Pravin Amre. It is worth mentioning that Iyer is yet to get a fitness certificate from the National Cricket Academy which is mandatory for him to start playing matches.

Iyer according to the report will train till July 31st in Mumbai Cricket Association’s BKC Facility and will report to NCA by end of the month.

“They have been working indoors mainly because there is no permission to do so outside. And there has been rain in Mumbai too,” a franchise source told Cricbuzz.

As IPL 2021 returns in UAE on Sep 19th, Delhi Capitals is scheduled to play their first match on September 22 against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The Delhi franchise is confident that Iyer will be completely fit before that and will be available for selection for the match.

As announced by the BCCI, IPL 2021 will restart in Dubai on 19th September. Most of the franchises including Delhi Capitals has decided to have training camp in Dubai 1 month before the tournament. This according to the DC official will further help Iyer to get back in shape before the 1st match on Sep 22nd.

Not only DC but Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Royal Challengers Bangalore have also reportedly expressed their interest in reaching Dubai early, preferably by August 20.

“We want to be there by August 15, latest by 20th and we have informed the BCCI that we want to be there by then. We are hoping to get the required permissions, without which, the logistical plans will be difficult to execute.”, one of the top CSK official was quoted recently.

BCCI announces schedule for remainder of VIVO IPL 2021 in UAE

IPL 2021 Phase 2: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the schedule for the remainder of the VIVO IPL 2021 which will be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). A total number of 31 matches will be played in the duration of 27 days.

The 14th season, which was postponed in May this year in the wake of the pandemic, will resume on 19th September in Dubai with a blockbuster clash between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians.

The action will then shift to Abu Dhabi where the Kolkata Knight Riders will square off against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Sharjah will host its first game on 24th September when Royal Challengers Bangalore take on Chennai Super Kings.

In all, 13 matches will be held in Dubai, 10 in Sharjah and 8 in Abu Dhabi.

There will be 7 double headers (5 matches already played in India – total of 12 matches) with the first match starting at 3:30PM IST (2:00PM Gulf Standard Time). All evening matches will start at 7:30PM IST (6:00PM Gulf Standard Time).

Final game of the league stage will be played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals on 8th October.

The 1st Qualifier will be played in Dubai on 10th October. The Eliminator & Qualifier 2 will be played in Sharjah on 11th & 13th October respectively with Dubai hosting the Final of VIVO IPL 2021 on 15th October this year.
