IPL 2021 – Little Known IPL Heroes: The Indian Premier League (IPL) is back in action and the Phase 2 of its 2021 edition so far has seen it live up to its motto of “Yatra Pratibha Avsara Prapnotihi”, which means “Where talent meets opportunity”. The three games so far have seen young guns wrestle control of the match situation and take their team to victory against the odds and make their mark on the proceedings. While Ruturaj Gaikwad and Venkatesh Iyer displayed their array of shots in the first two games, it was Kartik Tyagi who shone with the ball in the third game on Tuesday.

IPL 2021: First 3 matches in UAE, 3 little known players become unlikely heroes for winning teams CSK, KKR & RR

1. Ruturaj Gaikwad

The CSK opener single-handedly took the attack to an experienced Mumbai Indians line-up on a difficult track in Dubai. As wickets continued to tumble at the other end, Ruturaj Gaikwad held his nerve, fetching runs nonchalantly, before going berserk in the final overs to help CSK to 156 in their innings. Gaikwad remained unbeaten on 88, the highest score by a CSK batsman against the Mumbai Indians, as the MS Dhoni and Co. eventually clinched a 20-run win.

2. Venkatesh Iyer

Venkatesh Iyer may be a late bloomer in his cricketing career, but the 26-year-old did not take much time to showcase his talents when he got his debut cap for KKR. The Indore-born all-rounder starred in his debut against the Virat Kohli led Royal Challengers Bangalore, putting on a fighting opening partnership with Shubman Gill. While Gill departed, Iyer stayed till the end to see off the chase, remaining unbeaten on 41 off just 27 balls.

3. Kartik Tyagi

Kartik Tyagi defended the least number of runs in the final over of an IPL game as he helped Rajasthan Royals clinch an unlikely win on Tuesday. With Punjab needing just four to win, Tyagi bowled a stellar over, conceding just a solitary run, and picking up the wickets of Nicholas Pooran and Deepak Hooda to seal the game.
