At 40, he may not be the same batsman he used to be but he can still pull off some of his tricks. Ahead of the second leg of IPL 2021 in the UAE, during CSK’s first practise session at the ICC Academy in Dubai, Dhoni smashed a one such six over the deep mid-wicket that went sailing over the boundary for a six.
The reactions were expected, jaws dropped and the palms came together like a machine with a programmed feature to applaud the return of Thala MS Dhoni. CSK didn’t waste any time to share the video on social media platforms. Watch it here:

IPL 2021 Phase 2: CSK skipper yet again proved that age is just a number. In CSK’s first training session in Dubai, Dhoni undertook fitness sessions along with other young players. Besides, a plethora of shots- a four-hit through the mid-wicket, lofted hits over the bowler and mid-on were seen coming from Dhoni’s bat.
At the twilight of his career, MS Dhoni isn’t the same batsman he used to be. His struggles without match practice were real in both IPL 2020 and IPL 2021 and it’s no different this time either. In IPL 2020, he scored only 200 runs at an average of 25.00 while his strike rate went down to 116.27. In IPL 2021, in seven matches, he managed just 12.33 average with a strike rate of 123.33.
With the IPL 2021 resuming on September 19, Thala Dhoni will be eager to smash some out of the park and is preparing well to do so. CSK were the first team to arrive in the UAE with Dhoni beginning practice immediately after ending quarantine.

MS Dhoni-led side came back strongly in the IPL 2021 and is ranked second in the league standings after the end of phase 1.
CSK will kick off its IPL 2021 phase 2 against Mumbai Indians at Dubai and would be looking to continue its dominance.
