IPL 2021 – From MS Dhoni to AB De Villiers, 5 player who might retire from IPL without playing infront of home fans: While the franchises were happy with the IPL 2021 schedule, it must have been heartbreaking for fans, who might not witness their favourite stars between 22 yards of their home ground again. According to the 2021 Indian Premier League schedule, the matches will be played at neutral venues. It means that no franchise will play infront of their home crowd this season. The decision would mean that fans might not be able to enjoy some IPL legends who might retire after this edition.
Here are five IPL cricketers who might sign off from IPL without playing infront of home fans.
MS Dhoni
CSK and India legend MS Dhoni is likely to play his last season in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021). The wicket-keeper batsman will look to win the fourth IPL trophy for the CSK fans in his last stint in IPL. The cricketer has fans all over the world, but MS Dhoni has an emotional connection with Chennai. Referred as Thala, Chennai fans will miss MS Dhoni’s fast hand behind the stumps and mammoth sixes out of the ground. He has played all the IPL seasons for CSK (except two years during the team ban).
AB De Villiers
South Africa legend AB De Villiers might retire from the IPL in 2021. Also referred to as Mr. 360, AB De Villiers is one of the most attacking cricketers in the world. He has already announced retirement from international cricket. He would like to sign off his IPL career with a title. RCB fans, who love his sixes at Chinnaswamy Stadium, could miss his services.
Dwayne Bravo
Another CSK player Dwayne Bravo might retire from IPL this year. The 37-year-old has proved himself to be a match-winner for Chennai Super Kings over the years. He has played all seasons in the IPL, scoring 1490 runs and picking up 153 wickets. The Chennai fans could miss the dance moves of Bravo forever.
Imran Tahir
South Africa cricketer Imran Tahir will miss playing at his home crowd. The 41-year-old gets assistance from the Chepauk surface in Chennai. Fans will miss him running all over the field to celebrate the wickets. Tahir had played a key role in helping Chennai lift IPL 2018 title, two years after their team ban.
Harbhajan Singh
One of the iconic spinners of Indian cricket, Harbhajan Singh is likely to bid adieu to cricket after IPL 2021. The 38-year-old will play for Kolkata Knight Riders in the upcoming season.
