IPL 2021: Delhi Capital’s Shreyas Iyer resumes batting practice, will he get DC’s captaincy back, check video: IPL 2021 – Shreyas Iyer Delhi Capitals: Good signs have surfaced for Shreyas Iyer and Delhi Capitals (DC) fans as the Indian player recommenced his batting training. In a recent story posted by Iyer on Instagram, the right-handed batsman opened his arms in an indoor practice session. With Iyer declaring his fitness and getting confident of recovery from his shoulder injury, Delhi Capitals team management now has a task at hand in regard to the team’s captaincy issue.

IPL 2021 – Shreyas Iyer Delhi Capitals: Earlier InsideSport had reached out to DC management to know their take on the choice of team’s captain for Phase 2 of IPL 2021. Despite repeated attempts – none from their side is ready to comment on the issue and according to them it is too early to speak about it.

“Too early and premature to talk about it”, said one of the Delhi Capitals senior management member.

Who will be Delhi Capitals Captain for Phase 2? Shreyas Iyer ‘all in the hands of the owners’

Delhi Capitals Captain – Rishabh Pant or Shreyas Iyer? Rishabh Pant was bestowed with the captaincy and he fully lived up to the role in Phase 1 of IPL 2021, where DC topped the points table before the abrupt suspension of the tournament. Pant has shouldered the captaincy with such finesses that even ex-captain is unsure of his honor once he returns to the squad.

I don’t know about the captaincy, it’s in the hands of the owners. But the team has already been doing well and we are on top and that’s what really matters to me. My main aim and goal is to lift the trophy which Delhi has never done before.

IPL 2021 Phase 2: Shreyas Iyer vs Rishabh Pant- A captaincy contest

Delhi Capitals Captain – Rishabh Pant or Shreyas Iyer? While praises are all high for Rishabh Pant’s leadership skills as showcased in IPL 2021, Shreyas Iyer’s captaincy role can’t be overlooked. In fact, Iyer was the only captain under whose leadership DC made its maiden finale appearance when they locked horns against Mumbai Indians (MI) in IPL 2020.

The runner-ups of IPL 2020, DC seemed to have picked up from the same form that they had left in the previous season, with just the change in the spearhead- Rishabh Pant in place of Shreyas Iyer.

Well, if it boils down to the success ratio in the captaincy, numbers speak volumes compared to the features and onions.

A hand-to-hand comparison of DC’s performance under two youngsters vouches for Pant’s captaincy as more complete.

The tides seemed to have been sailing in DC’s favor even ferociously when Pant was given the captaincy. In just the 8 matches of the IPL 2021 tournament, Rishabh Pant led DC have won 6 matches of the total 8 that the Team had played as of now.

IPL 2021: Winning percentage- Shreyas Iyer vs Rishabh Pant

Delhi Capitals Captain – Rishabh Pant or Shreyas Iyer? With 6 matches still to undergo in IPL 2021, a match-winning percentage shows Pant as a lucky-go-charm for DC. While the win percentage for Iyer hovers around 57% (as per IPL 2020), Pant has managed to seal a 75% match win percentage (in eight matches of IPL 2021).

On fair grounds, the winning probability hereon (in IPL 2021) is likely to scale up even more for DC as Shreyas Iyer’s return would further enhance DC’s batting depth. Should the captaincy remains on Pant’s shoulder, the stats would also substantiate Pant’s captaincy over his teammate.
