IPL 2021- Shreyas Iyer smashes huge six during training, set to return for remainder of IPL Phase 2 – Watch Video – Shreyas Iyer has started his preparations for the upcoming IPL 2021 as the Delhi Capitals designated captain returns for the remainder of IPL 2021 an injury layoff. Iyer, who dislocated his shoulder during the ODI series against England in March while fielding, is back to full fitness and is in Dubai for the upcoming IPL 2021. A good show in the IPL can help him claim a spot in India’s T20 World Cup squad.

Iyer has already landed in Dubai and is undergoing training as the IPL 2021 Phase 2 is fast approaching. The 26-year-old has been putting in the hard yards in training and looked at his ominous best during a recent practice game. A huge six that was timed perfectly by Iyer at the ICC Cricket Academy, showed that the Delhi Capitals batting mainstay is is good touch.
The Team India star arrived in Dubai 10 days prior to his teammates for special training and is likely to replace Steve Smith in the middle order in IPL 2021. Accompanying Iyer is his childhood coach and also Delhi Capitals’ batting mentor, Praveen Amre. Iyer uploaded four videos on his Instagram handle from the practice match in the UAE, where he was busy whacking the ball out of the park.

Iyer was in fine form during the IPL 2020 in UAE last year, scoring over 500 runs as Delhi Capitals reached the final under his captaincy. However, after he was ruled out due to an injury, Capitals appointed Rishabh Pant as skipper for the season. Under Pant, Capitals rose to the top, clinching six wins in their eight games of IPL 2021. Capitals, coached by Australian legend Ricky Ponting, are yet to announce if Iyer will be handed back the captaincy duties from Pant.
The second half of the IPL comprising of 31 matches will be played in the UAE between September 19 and October 15.
