Rajasthan Royals Biggest Flop – Chris Morris

Rajasthan Royals splashed a record Rs 16.25 crore on Chris Morris, hoping that the South African would be a key solution to their puzzle. However, the all-rounder failed to impress, especially in Phase 2, and the move turned out to be a grossly financial mistake for the Royals. Morris bagged 15 wickets at a woeful economy rate of 9.17 to along with the 67 runs he scored in the entire campaign, including the best score of 36*. Those returns meant that the South African cost RR Rs 1.08 crore per wicket and Rs 24.25 lakh per run he scored.

Mumbai Indians Biggest Flop – Krunal Pandya

Mumbai Indians’ failure to make it to the IPL 2021 playoffs largely lies in the poor form of both Hardik and Krunal Pandya. The latter had a particularly dreadful tournament, scoring 143 runs in 13 games at an average of 14.30 and a paltry strike rate of 116.26. With the ball, the left-hander conceded at almost eight an over, picking up just 5 wickets despite predominantly playing on spin favouring conditions in Chennai and UAE.

Punjab Kings Biggest Flop – Nicholas Pooran

Nicholas Pooran had a forgettable IPL 2021 Phase 1, and his fortunes did not change when the tournament shifted to UAE. The Punjab Kings persisted with him, but the West Indian could only muster a total of 85 runs in 12 innings, which includes a knock of 32. His average of 7.72 and a strike rate of 111.84 are numbers he would like to forget quickly, in a campaign beyond disappointment for the West Indian wicketkeeper.

Sunrisers Hyderabad Biggest Flop – David Warner

David Warner fell prey to his own standards and saw his stocks with the Sunrisers Hyderabad camp drastically over the course of the season. A stalwart and a run-machine for the franchise over the years, the Australian southpaw struggled for consistency and ideas and was twice dropped out of the XI. Warner managed 195 runs in eight innings, but his strike-rate of 107.73 was far from satisfactory for the 2016 champions.
