IPL 2021 auction: Moeen Ali sold to CSK for Rs 7 crore after bidding war with Punjab Kings; Here is all you need to know: The southpaw all-rounder has been purchased by Chennai Super Kings for Rs 7 crore. The Englishman made his debut in the IPL in 2018 for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Since then he has been a part of the squad but failed to create a major impact for the Virat Kohli’s side. He was given a run for 3 matches only in the 2020 edition and the management decided to let go for the 2021 season. The all-rounder is a handy batsman up the order and with his off-spinners, he can be the surprise weapon in the armoury. Also, he can end up as a cheap buy for the franchises.
It was a bidding war between CSK and Punjab Kings. But in the end, a quick consultation with skipper MS Dhoni and head coach Stephen Fleming, CSK were able to outbid Punjab Kings.
