Dhoni’s batting form

Despite putting in extra efforts in the practice sessions, MS Dhoni failed to even off-the-mark in CSK’s opening match of IPL 2021. His dismissal ensured DC restrict CSK under a 200-run total and gain a psychological advantage. He has not played any competitive cricket after IPL last year (expect opening match of IPL 2021). Last year, the right-handed batsman had managed a meagre 200 runs throughout the IPL season.

Bowling problem

Chennai Super Kings do not have the pacers who can cloak 140kmph consistently at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Their team has been designed as per Chepauk Stadium, Chennai. In the opening match, bowlers failed to defend 188 runs. Delhi Capitals won the match with 8 balls to spare. Deepak Chahar and Sam Curran gave away 36 runs (4 overs) and 24 runs (2) respectively. Even spinners Ravindra Jadeja, Moeen Ali and experienced pacer Dwayne Bravo failed to make an impact.

How to keep KL Rahul and Chris Gayle quiet in the powerplay

KL Rahul and Chris Gayle are one of the most dangerous opening pairs in IPL. In their match against DC, the bowlers failed to take a single wicket in the powerplay. Once any of these two batsmen get set, they can take the game away from the opposition.

Slow over-rate issue

The CSK skipper Dhoni was charged Rs 12 lakh in their previous match for maintaining a slow over-rate against DC. As per rules, all the teams need to finish their 20 overs in 90 minutes.

The dew factor

MS Dhoni has stressed the amount of dew that plays a role in the 7.30 pm fixtures. The bowlers, especially the spinners find it difficult to grip the ball. He told that the teams need to score above 200 runs and manage 15-20 extra runs above par score to deal with the last 30 minutes where balls come easily to the bat.
