IPL 2021: 3 reasons why Kane Willaimson led SRH can turn around in IPL 2021 Phase 2 – The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) had a campaign to forget as the perennial playoff contenders failed to get going during Phase 1 of the IPL 2021. At the time of suspension, the 2016 IPL champions registered only a solitary win in seven games, occupying the bottom spot in the standings. Amid all the chaos, the team decided to sack David Warner from captaincy, with Kane Williamson handed over the reins, in a bid to pull off a miracle playoff finish.

While the scenario looks difficult for SRH, all is not lost and the team could well and truly bounce to their very best. Here are three reasons why the Kane Willaimson-led SRH can turn around in IPL 2021 Phase 2

1. Return of key players from injury

Sunrisers Hyderabad have been plagued with injuries over the past few years and Phase 1 was no different as they struggled to find the correct combination. Bhuvneshwar Kumar suffered an injury midway through the tournament, while T Natarajan was ruled out after surgery. The duo will be in action in Phase 2, and with the T20 World Cup on the horizon, they will be a little extra inspired to make their mark and prove their fitness.

2. David Warner returns and has a point to prove

David Warner confirmed that he will be back for the Sunrisers Hyderabad for IPL 2021 Phase 2 and the franchise will be keen to see him return despite how things panned out in the Phase 1. Warner was dropped from captaincy during Phase 1 while his batting format suffered, eventually being dropped from the side as well. A break will have done well to mend those relations and Warner, who has been synonymous with the franchise over the years, will hope to kick on his form to show his worth and answer his critics.

3. Captain Kane Williamson

Kane Williamson was re-appointed as captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad after David Warner’s sacking but the KIwi skipper did not have much to impose himself on the team as the tournament was suspended shortly after. Williamson has previously led the SRH outfit to the final in the absence of Warner in 2018, and the franchise and the fans will hope that the 31-year-old can pull off a similar achievement. Williamson’s form with the bat has also been impressive in the little cricket he has played this year and the Kiwi star will also be buoyed by leading his team to the World Test Championship win.
