IPL 2021- 10 rules for Phase 2: With the Indian Premier League set to resume in UAE from September 19, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has come up with big changes in its rules. It is leaving no stones unturned for the safety of all IPL franchises in the COVID era. The board has come up with a health advisory to ensure the smooth conduct of the remaining 31 matches of IPL 2021. The cash-rich league will kick start on September 19.

IPL 2021: 10 rules about IPL Phase 2 in UAE that you should know

Rule 1:

BCCI has decided to set up 14 bio-bubbles, eight of these will belong to the IPL franchises. 3 each for – Match officials & match management and Broadcast crew and commentators.

Rule 2:

All the franchise team members must undergo a COVID-19 RT-PCR Test 72 hours and test negative ahead of their scheduled flight for UAE.

Rule 3:

All the players must undergo a mandatory quarantine of 6 days at the team hotel before entering the bubble.

Rule 4:

If the ball goes into the stands then it will be replaced and the original ball will be sanitised and placed in the ball library. This is because of the fact that there is a possibility that crowds are likely to be allowed for IPL 2021 Phase 2 in UAE.

Rule 5:

Players will not be allowed to use saliva to shine the ball. In such cases, the umpires might penalise the bowling team 5 runs in case of multiple violations.

Rule 6:

In unavoidable circumstances, franchise team members/ players can leave the bio-secure bubble. . Re-entry to the bubble will also require the same quarantine period. The samples should be negative for days 2, 4 and 6.

Rule 7:

Green corridors will be created to avoid contact with any individuals outside the bio-bubble. The only expectation is if someone with a medical emergency needs to visit the hospital.

Rule 8:

The general public including media persons will not have access to the bubbles facilities as well as stadiums for any activities.

Rule 9:

Players and team support staff will be able to join the IPL franchise via bubble-to-bubble transfer. Players from India vs England series, Sri Lanka vs South Africa series, and CPL 2021 might be permitted without serving a mandatory quarantine period.

Rule 10

To avoid any error, even the drivers of the buses/ vehicles will also stay in a bio-secure bubble. They will be tested regularly and undergo temperature screening.

The opening match of IPL 2021 phase 2 will be played between MS Dhoni-led CSK vs defending champions Mumbai Indians.
