The IPL 2020 has already witnessed some high-octane fixtures and extremely close contests with the fate of the match unsure until the last ball. The tournament has once again put all cricket fans on the edge of the seat with the matches going down all the way to the wire.

In this article, we take a look at 5 such heart-stopping contests which has panned out in IPL 2020 so far.

IPL 2020: DC vs KXIP- DC won in Super Over

Delhi Capitals (DC) beat Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) after a dramatic super-over clash in the second match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 in Dubai.

Delhi were suffering at one stage (100/6), however, Marcus Stoinis helped them get to 157/8 in 20.

DC scored 100 runs for the loss of six wickets in the first 17 at a run-rate of 5.88. However, they scored 57 runs in the last three, losing two scalps at 19.00. Chris Jordan gave away 30 runs in the final over.

On the chase, KXIP lost their skipper KL Rahul (21) early on which then triggered an intense fall of wickets for the Punjab side. Karun Nair (1), Nicholas Pooran (0), Glenn Maxwell (1) all went for small scores as DC asserted their dominance. However, it was thanks to opener Mayank Agarwal’s heroic innings of 89 runs off 60 balls that boosted KXIP to tie up the score after an intense final over Stoinis, who picked up two wickets in the 20th over.

In the super over, Kagiso Rabada once again showcased his bowling prowess as he picked up Rahul and Pooran’s wickets with two beauty deliveries to finish KXIP at 2/2.

With a target score of three to win the match from six balls, DC sent Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer to rap things up, who finished it off in a blast without losing any wickets in the end.

IPL 2020: RCB vs MI – RCB won in Super Over

Royal Challengers Bangalore edged out Mumbai Indiansin a thrilling IPL encounter at the Dubai International Stadium which was decided in the Super Over.

From a precarious position, MI roared back into contention following an incredible late assault from Ishan Kishan (99, 58b, 2×4, 9×6) and Kieron Pollard (60 not out, 24b, 3×4, 5×6). It was Pollard who pulled seamer Isuru Udana to the fence off the last ball to force a Super Over after MI had needed five off the final delivery.

Faced with a huge target of 202, MI was staring down the barrel at 78 for four. Reducing the equation down to 31 off 12 balls, fast bowler Saini was called into action. He started brilliantly, conceding singles in the first four deliveries, before Ishan cut loose with a straight six.

MI needed 19 runs off the 20th over bowled by Udana. Ishan belted two sixes over long-on before holing out one short of a well-deserved century. Pollard, however, ensured that the contest spilled into the one-over shootout.

It looked like it would be only a matter of time when KXIP would wrap up the match and snap their four-match losing streak.
