Delhi Capitals (DC) stamped their authority in the IPL 2020, once again securing the pole position after a 59 runs drubbing over Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). It was a brilliant effort with the bat first coupled with Kagiso Rabada’s heroics as he ended with the magical figures of 4/24 in his four overs.

IPL 2020 RCB vs DC Highlight: Pressure got under the skin of RCB batsmen

Chasing 197, a slow start put the pressure on the RCB openers with Devdutt Padikkal and Aaron Finch getting out in the first four overs.

The pressure of the required run-rate kept getting to the batsmen with the likes of AB de Villiers and Moeen Ali playing poor shots and suffering a similar fate. Virat Kohli, at the other end, looked good but consistent loss of wickets, kept him quiet until he was eventually dismissed by Kagiso Rabada in the 14th over to officially seal the tie for DC.

RCB, expectedly, collapsed after Kohli’s wicket and ended up throwing their wickets to Rabada who bowled with menace as RCB could only reach 137 runs in their 20 overs to lose the game by 59 runs.

IPL 2020 RCB vs DC Highlights: Marcus Stonis’ late fireworks propelled DC to a big total

After being invited to bat first, DC were propelled by Marcus Stoinis who slammed an unbeaten 53 off just 26 balls. He came in to bat with the team in trouble at 90/3 in the 12th over and started to attack the opposition bowlers from the word go. The likes of Navdeep Saini and Mohammed Siraj weren’t spared and Stoinis churned out some quick runs to leave RCB in shock as they were least expecting that sort of aggression.

Stoinis’ partnership of 89 runs with Rishabh Pant in around just seven overs and made sure that the team posted an above par total. The latter also looked good during his 25-ball 37-run knock while his Aussie partner remained unbeaten on 53 off 26 deliveries. However, things weren’t great when these two players joined hands. DC had botched up a good start losing wickets in quick succession.

Prithvi Shaw was at his best again giving the team a good start. Shikhar Dhawan also supported him well before Siraj broke the partnership with the former’s wicket. Shaw scored 42 off just 23 balls and Dhawan also did well to get to 32 before getting out. Shreyas Iyer also got out early to leave the team at 90/3. This is when Stoinis and Pant took over and helped the team get to 196 runs for the loss of four wickets in their 20 overs.
