The Indian Premier League’s (IPL 2020) most followed team Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has extended their quarantine period till September 1st.
CSK which completed its 6 day mandatory quarantine period today was expected to start training at the ICC Academy today. But instead team chose to extend the quarantine period till Tuesday next week.
The reason for the same is yet not known. InsideSport tried reaching out to team’s CEO Kashi Vishwanathan but did not get any reply to the calls.
The extension of the quarantine period has put question mark over the well-being of CSK squad ?
As per the IPL 2020 protocols, all teams were suppose to go through 3 mandatory Covid-19 tests and only after the results are negative, teams are allowed to train.
The questions which are being asked is, whether someone in the CSK squad tested positive ? If not, why did CSK team extend their quarantine period ?
IPL 2020 : All is not well with Chennai Super Kings team ?
According to a report by ESPNCricinfo, other teams are already monitoring the developments in the Super Kings camp. Another franchise official said they even urged the IPL to issue an advisory to all teams to update everybody about the test results of all teams.
The development also means the Super Kings will be the last franchise to start training for the tournament. Rajasthan Royals have already held two training sessions as they and Kolkata Knight Riders were the first two teams to land in the UAE (on August 20). The Knight Riders and defending champions Mumbai Indians – the two teams based in Abu Dhabi – will conduct their first training session on Friday. Delhi Capitals are scheduled to start their first training session on Saturday.
