IPL 2020 DC vs MI Highlights: MI crushes DC, danger looms on Delhi Capitals playoff hopes

Dream11 IPL 2020 MI thrash DC : Mumbai Indians will finish the IPL 2020 points table as No.1 team in the league. Mumbai thrashed Delhi Capitals in the match no.51 of Dream11 IPL 2020 by 9 wickets. MI which was playing 4th consecutive match without their captain Rohit Sharma now has 18 points from 13 matches.

For Mumbai, first Bumrah & Boult took 3 wickets each to shut down DC for 110 runs in alloted 20 overs and then aided by strokefilled 72* off 47 balls from Ishan Kishan, MI won by 9 wickets. Mumbai won the game just in 14.2 overs.

Delhi Capitals has lost their 4th consecutive match in IPL 2020. They are currently on No.3 in the points table with 14 points from 13 matches. DC is now in a danger zone and can miss the playoff bus.

The race has become more complex especially for Delhi Capitals now. DC has not only lost the match today to Mumbai Indians but their net run rate has nose dived to negative.

Delhi Capitals: Played 13, Points 14, NRR -0.159 (Remaining match vs Royal Challengers)

  • DC need to win match against RCB to qualify
  • If they lose, they will almost crash out of the race because of negative run rate
  • KXIP plays CSK – If they win, they will go through at No.3
  • Rajasthan Royals can also go past DC if they beat KKR in their last match

Excellent win for the 4-time IPL winners. Kishan finishes it off in style. It’s full on middle and leg, Kishan picks it up and flicks it over deep square leg for a huge maximum.

Another excellent over for MI. Suryakumar got a single off the first ball and then Kishan hammered a six off the next. The next four balls yielded three singles. 10 runs off the over. MI-105/1 after 14 overs; need more 6 from 36 balls

Ishan Kishan is playing really well. He’s paced his innings nicely with a good mix of caution and aggression. He started the over with a six and then got a couple and a single. A good over for MI. They found some momentum with a three fours. De Kock hit a glorious shot down the ground for a four and then Kishan hit a couple of pulls for fours. In between, there was one swing and miss. Nortje missed his lengths in that over. 13 runs off it. MI- 23/0 after 4 overs

Boult gets his third. Ashwin looks to loft it down the ground, doesn’t connect it off the middle, it flies off the toe end of the bat in the air, Krunal runs to his left from long on, Pollard too was charging towards the ball but then Krunal pouches it safely and goes tumbling. Good call and communication between the two fielders.

Mumbai Indians won’t mind these singles. Krunal cleverly altered his lines and lengths with the batsmen using their feet and gave away just 4 runs. Don’t know what DC are trying to do with just two overs to go. DC- 96/7 after 18 overs

Both the batsmen looked to employ sweep against Chahar in that over. Praveen Dubey got down and swept one fine for a couple, but mistimed one off the third ball. Chahar mixed them up well with leg spinners and googlies in that over. 5 runs off it. DC-92/7 after 17 overs

Coulter-Nile has used his pace variations well to adjust to the track. Ashwin hit a six and a two in that over but it was another over where DC lost a wicket and it was the crucial wicket of Hetmyer. 9 runs and a wicket off it. DC-87/7 after 16 overs

DC’s middle order decimated. It’s short from Coulter-Nile, Hetmyer goes for a pull but doesn’t get it off the middle and helps it straight into the hands of Krunal at deep mid-wicket.

Chahar missed his line off the second ball in the over and Hetmyer tucked it past short fine leg for a four. But apart from that blip, Chahar was disciplined with his lines and lengths. He gave away just one more single in the over and ended up giving just five runs. DC- 78/6 after 15 overs

Bumrah strays in line and Harshal Patel whips it past mid-wicket for four. But Bumrah has the last laugh – he gets him out lbw off the last ball. Bumrah in the middle of a dream spell! He is ripping through Delhi’s middle-order. Four runs and a wicket. DC-73/6 after 14 overs

Harshal Patel walks back to the pavilion. Good length delivery outside off, angling in and goes straight on. Harshal Patel stays in his crease and looks to flick, he misses and gets his high on the pads. The umpire lifts his finger on the appeal. With no reviews left, he had no option bit to walk back to the hut.

Rahul Chahar continues. Just six runs from that over and nearly a run-out. Hetmyer sprinting back for a second off the final ball; a direct hit would have been curtains for the Caribbean. A couple of braces and as many singles from that over. DC-69/5 after 13 overs

It’s a good length delivery outside off, angling in, it jags back in further. Pant stays in his crease and looks to tuck it to the leg side but misses. He is trapped right in front. Stoinis’ struggles continue. He goes for 2. It’s that man Bumrah who gets his first wicket. Hits that hard length again. It tails away after landing. Stoinis, with his feet rooted to the ground, feels for it and gets an outside edge to the keeper who at first fumbles but then grabs it safely.

Shreyas Iyers stumped by Quinton de Kock. A flighted delivery and Iyer wanted to play it across the line. Misses it and de Kock is quick enough to do the rest. Replay shows Iyer’s back leg was in the air. Third umpire signals out, Iyers walks back.

He went for one shot too many again but Boult cleverly adjusted his length, bowled it short and Prithvi got a top edge on his pull charging down the track, de Kock made no mistake. 8 runs and a wicket. Boult has cleaned up both the openers within power play. Short one from boult, Shaw went for the pull and got a top edge. Went straight up in the air and taken by Quinton de Kock.
